We very much regret to announce the death of Mr. Mario Fuschini Mejia of
Argentina. Mr. Fuschini Mejia devoted his life to the study of hydrology and
was an important member of the International Hydrological Programme from its
very beginning. Mr. Fuschini Mejia, a civil engineer specialised in hydrology,
was for many years chairman of the Argentine National Committee for the IHP and
also Vice-President of the IHP Bureau. He taught at various universities and
occupied official posts in his country. He actively promoted the improvement
of knowledge by organizing international courses in hydrology with emphasis on
groundwater hydrology and environmental aspects. Considered a world authority
on flatlands, his untimely death found him full of enthusiasm for the
preparation of new publications and training activities.
